This is a list of oil refineries.The Oil & Gas Journal publishes a worldwide list of refineries annually in a country-by-country tabulation that includes for each refinery: location, crude oil daily processing capacity, and the size of each process unit in the refinery. For some countries, the refinery list is further categorized state-by-state. The list appears in one of their December issues.

As of 2024, the United States has approximately 125 operational oil refineries. These refineries are primarily located along the Gulf Coast, in Texas and Louisiana, as well as in California, the Midwest, and the Northeast.

Although there are refineries in 30 states, just three states dominate US refining: Texas (47 operating refineries), Louisiana (19), and California (18). As of January 2015, these three states contain 45% of all US refineries and 59% of all US refining capacity. [13]
