Feb 6, 2012 · 188.000 K so about 116.000 miles, It did rattle when i took it out but that still doesn’t mean anything it could be getting stuck due to the leaking o-ring I have bought a genuine part which didn’t come with a o-ring but i bought a box of o-rings and found one that is a tight fit So hopefully this will be the fix 🙂

Oct 17, 2014 · 2006 Acura TSX, steering pump is making a loud noise, i google around and most explained replace the black O ring at the feeder host pipe with new Red one, noise gone a way for couple days, and it came back. I checked the tensioner, belt, they all know fine. Question – Do i need to replace the other O ring as well or entire power steering pump ?

Apr 15, 2012 · It’s advise that you don’t use the gasket material extra on the tensioner. If it gets old and into the engine, it’s not good. It could clog up the oil lube path. Just install the new tensioner and the o ring will do it’s job. The leak is common and very bad design. I changed mine less than 10000 miles ago and it leaks again.

Oct 3, 2012 · We only found the source of the problem when our instructor traced the lines with a light and found fluid on one of the compression fittings where a student changed out the p/s pump. After the leak was repaired with the proper o-ring, we bled the system maybe 4 times and there was no air at all. 😉

Feb 16, 2015 · A lot of people think they need to be cranked down hard, thus breaking whatever sealing mechanism they use (o-ring, gasket, silicone..etc) and its basically the same thing as having it too loose. Thankfully oil filters do not follow this rule, or 90% of them would leak.. that is a pet peeve of mine (and any tech, im sure) i’ve run across ...

Nov 25, 2016 · Turns out the pump o ring was leaking. I had to tear it all down again to replace a 79 cent O ring. Took me 4 hours… on the civic you had to drop the exhaust and remove the oil pan as well as remove the timing belt, so the moral of the story may be to ensure where the leak is, and that seal is really the culprit, because that kind of work ...

Nov 24, 2011 · Right now I can see the broken tip very close to the dipstick hole, I also have some very thin needlenose pliers, but the dipstick is not aligned with the hole, and there is very little tip on the stick to grab with the pliers, plus the stick itself has an O ring that is very snug on the hole… doesnt look like an option.
