Pre-election surveys suggest Yoon Suk Yeol's liberal rival, Lee Jae-myung, appears headed for an easy win, riding a wave of public frustration in the wake of Yoon's martial law debacle.

Some of the same young people who demonstrated after President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law said they were disappointed by their choices in Tuesday’s election.

The election comes nearly two months after president Yoon Suk Yeol was removed from office following his impeachment for declaring martial law in the country.
