With 10 Virginia players in the transfer portal and only three players currently projected to be on the official roster in Elijah Gertrude and high school commits Chance Mallory and Silas Barksdale, Ryan Odom and his staff have a long month ahead of them in building their roster for year 1 of a new era of UVA basketball.

That big donation from Reddit co-founder Alex Oharian wasn’t enough to keep the UVA Women’s Basketball program from losing a key player on the portal.

After landing high school recruit Silas Barksdale in the late afternoon, UVA is losing rising senior power forward Elijah Saunders who is entering the transfer portal after one year in Charlottesville.
