In 11 days Jay Leno will surrender “The Tonight Show” he inherited from Johnny Carson 22 years ago. Like Carson he goes out on top, though not under circumstances of his choosing.

Well, folks — that’s a wrap of the Jay Leno era of The Tonight Show. Not that you could tell by the bevy of jokes made at the expense of Leno’s first adieu-bidding to the series.
