The Pac-12 was down to Washington State and Oregon State after 10 legacy schools officially departed last August. College realignment is reportedly inching closer to Texas State University. Late Thursday night, sources confirmed to the Austin Sports Journal that Texas State was officially invited to join the Pac-12. An email sent to a Texas State athletics officials asking about the report did not immediately draw a response.

The Pac-12 Conference has extended an offer to Texas State to join the league in July 2026, and barring any late changes, the school is expected to officially accept the invitation on Monday, according to multiple people briefed on the Pac-12’s decision. The Austin Sports Journal first reported the news.
