Despite upbeat sales of the refreshed version of its Model Y SUV, Tesla is still stuck in the mud in its second-largest market.
Tesla enters the Indian market with Model Y, priced at ₹59.89–67.89 lakh—over double its US price due to steep import duties. As charging infrastructure begins rollout, experts question Tesla’s pricing and call for local manufacturing to enable broader adoption.
Instead, Tesla extended the wheelbase to 3,040mm, or 150mm (5.9 inches) longer than the five-seat Model Y. In addition to the added length, the new Y L gets unique wheels, an updated spoiler, new seats, and appears as though it’ll be available with a new gold paint color.
