The votes are in and the tush push lives to fight another day. A proposal to ban the play — which the Philadelphia Eagles made famous — failed to pass Wednesday at the NFL's owners meetings in Eagan,
In the same vein as the play itself, the "Tush Push" barrels forward. On Wednesday, NFL owners voted at the spring league meeting to keep the play made famous by the Philadelphia Eagles, rejecting a proposal put forward by the Green Bay Packers to ban it.
The final vote on the proposed ban of the Tush Push was 22-10, and at least 24 votes were needed to pass it. The Chicago Bears were one of the 22 teams who voted to ban the play.
One day after the controversial tush push ban proposal failed to pass at the NFL owners' meeting this week, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley weighed in with a ruthless message for those who wanted to get rid of the play.
The NFL's Health and Safety Committee and Competition Committee reportedly both voted in favor of banning the controversial Tush Push play on Wednesday.
As to the tush-push ban, Goodell said the Competition Committee will continue to study it. “We’ll see how it plays out this season,” Goodell said. “And then we’ll come back, and we’ll discuss those as we always do every year. What’s the right way to go forward? So, I think the discussion was helpful to us and what we want to focus on this season.”
The NFL voted to keep the tush push a legal play and to let its players play in the Olympics. | Episode 444: May 23, 2025.
