Thousands of people have signed a petition claiming a proposal to implement a parking zone around Everton's new stadium will "kill businesses". From Monday, when the first test event takes place at the £500m Bramley-Moore Dock site, restrictions will come into force similar to those already in place around Goodison Park and Anfield stadiums.

Goodison Park, which will be vacated after this season, hosted its final Merseyside derby on Wednesday as Everton drew 2-2 with Liverpool in a Premier League clash.

Goodison Park, the home of Everton Football Club for more than 130 years, is set to close in the summer of 2025. The historic ground was built in 1892 following a disagreement with the owner of Anfield – the ground in which Everton had started their professional career,

The city council is consulting on a parking permit scheme affecting roads within a 30-minute walk from the stadium site at Bramley Moore Dock. Businesses will be charged an annual fee of £50 per vehicle,

After 133 years, the famed Merseyside stadium will be put to rest, with Everton set to move into their brand new home soon.
