The United Nations Security Council has held an emergency meeting on the deepening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Local hospitals in the Gaza Strip say that Israeli strikes across the territory overnight killed at least 31 people.

Clean water has grown scarce in Gaza, where Israeli forces have bombed the infrastructure and blocked aid necessary to maintain water systems.

“The world cannot stand by as Gaza is starved and shattered,” the Pakistani envoy said, pointing out that over 58,000 people have been killed, mostly women and children, more than 138,000 wounded, and entire neighbourhoods have been reduced to rubble.
