The Dallas Stars have hired Glen Gulutzan as their head coach 12 years after he was fired from his first stint with them. General manager Jim Nill announced the move Tuesday, with Gulutzan succeeding Peter DeBoer,

Gulutzan, who was most recently an assistant for the Edmonton Oilers, served as the Stars’ head coach for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.

It isn't because he's safe. Or that the contract is cheap. It's because Jim Nill believes in the power of change—and that might be the biggest risk Dallas' general manager has taken.
