Uber Technologies Inc. and Baidu Inc. plan to launch robotaxis on the ride-sharing platform in several markets outside of the US and mainland China through a multiyear partnership.
As part of the deal, Uber is locking in at least 20,000 Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with Nuro’s Level 4 autonomy. Uber plans to own and operate this fleet itself through its app, essentially building a driverless ride-hailing service from the ground up. A pilot rollout is expected as early as late 2026, starting in a major U.S. city.
Uber said Tuesday that it partnered with Baidu to launch thousands of Apollo Go robotaxis in cities outside of the U.S. and mainland China. The first robotaxis under the partnership are expected to launch in Asia and the Middle East later this year.

Baidu and Uber are teaming up to deploy thousands of the Chinese company's autonomous vehicles across global markets on the ride-hailing app's platform. The companies said Tuesday that the partnership will increase the supply of affordable and reliable ridesharing options by bringing Baidu's robotaxi unit onto Uber's network.
Baidu Inc. is planning to launch its Apollo Go robotaxi service in Singapore and Malaysia as early as this year, according to a person familiar with the matter, as the company continues to expand its global footprint.
