Arsenal are in the process of completing a deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres after taking final steps in negotiations with Sporting CP for the striker.
Former England boss Roy Hodgson has opened up on striker Viktor Gyokeres and how he could have a real impact at Arsenal.
Gyokeres has even given up £1.7m in wages in order to sign for Arsenal, although Sporting CP are standing firm, with Club President Frederico Varandas saying: “If they don’t want to pay Viktor’s fair market value, we’ll be very comfortable with that for the next three years.
Central to Gyökeres’s frustrations is a belief that he had an agreement with Sporting president Frederico Varandas to sell him for a certain fee, believed to be around €70 million (£60.4 million, $82 million). Varandas has publicly insisted Gyökeres will not be sold for such a price.
A deal has not been finalized for the Swedish striker, but it appears he has emerged as Arsenal's favored option in a summer where they have also been in negotiations with RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko. The Bundesliga side have held firm on their price tag for the young Slovenian striker, believed to be $94 million.
An imminent deal that would see Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres join Arsenal is now ‘at risk of collapse’, according to reports.
