Communities along the Yorkshire Coast are preparing to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day with a series of ceremonial beacon lighting events this evening.

Scarborough residents are being encouraged to delve into their family history and share recollections of how VE Day was marked in the town back in 1945.
