ATLANTA — More than nine months have passed since the Pohlad family announced its intention to explore a sale of the Minnesota Twins, but the delay in finding a buyer, Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred said on Tuesday, does not mean there are no bidders willing to meet the Pohlads’ price.

A TLANTA – As MLB commissioner Rob Manfred looks to improve competitive balance in the league, Tony Clark, the executive director of the MLB Players Association, made his position on the possibility of a salary cap abundantly clear on Tuesday. "This is institutionalized collusion," Clark said. "That's what a salary cap is."

It was reported back in February that ESPN opted out of their deal with MLB for the 2026 through 2028 seasons. That deal included broadcast rights for Sunday Night Baseball, the Home Run Derby and the Wild Card round of the playoffs. ESPN still has the rights for the current season but those products are still up for grabs after 2025.

The Twins sale process has moved slowly with Justin Ishbia dropping out, but Manfred insists that it is still on track to be completed.
