Passengers at airports in Connecticut and the rest of New England are no longer required to remove their shoes during security screenings, local airport officials say, reflecting a nationwide change that seems to have taken hold in most airports across the country.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem will announce Tuesday afternoon that airline passengers no longer have to remove their shoes while going through security checks run by the Transportation Security Administration.
