Tornado warning in effect for parts of North Texas

At least 9 tornadoes touched down in North Texas during severe storms, National Weather Service says

Storm surveys are underway following a night of severe weather across North Texas. As of Monday afternoon, at least one tornado has been confirmed near the City of Gordon, located about 66 miles west of Fort Worth. Gordon ISD canceled classes for the week due to extensive damage on campus from the storms.

How many tornadoes officially touched down during severe weather weekend in North Texas?

Two EF-1 tornadoes were reported, which means they had wind gusts between 86-110 miles per hour. Both were in Palo Pinto County. The first tornado touched down about two miles north of Mingus and its path was about half a mile long, the weather service said. Its wind speeds peaked at 105 miles per hour.
