Update: Nearly full contained Border 2 Fire in San Diego County, now at 90%
Border 2 Fire initially started 1:58 p.m. Jan. 23 in San Diego County. After being active for six days, it has burned 6,625 acres. A fire crew of 1,510 effectively contained 90% of the fire by Wednesday morning. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.
UPDATE: Border 2 Fire now 88% contained
Still prohibited from returning to their homes due to the conflagration, dubbed the Border 2 Fire, were residents of areas east and south of Otay Lakes Road.
Border 2 Fire at 55% Containment, Cause Remains Under Investigation
Containment of the Border 2 Fire in the far southern reaches of the San Diego area increased to 55% today with flames not posing any immediate threats of spreading further, according to Cal Fire.
