Southern California Edison (SCE), a subsidiary of Edison International, said on Thursday that it was probing whether its equipment was associated with the ignition of two Los Angeles-area wildfires this year.

The utility company said its equipment likely caused the fire but that an investigation is continuing and that they are cooperating with authorities.

Edison International’s subsidiary, Southern California Edison, today submitted two letters to the California Public Utilities Commission providing updates on its ongoing analysis into the origin of the Eaton and Hurst wildfires that began on Jan.

However, the Edison International unit has not identified evidence to confirm this, according to a filing with the California Public Utilities Commission.

Southern California Edison said there may be a link between its equipment and two of the wildfires that raged in Southern California last month.
