The United States and Canada will do battle one more time in the championship game of the 4 Nations Face-Off. However, the Americans have been affected by the injury bug heading into Thursday's pivotal matchup for international supremacy.

A lower-body injury will keep forward Matthew Tkachuk from playing for Team USA against Sweden in the 4 Nations Face-Off game Monday night in Boston.

McAvoy and Tkachuk did not participate in morning skate for Team USA, which already secured a spot in Thursday's TD Garden final vs. Canada, but Matthews was scratched close to puck drop. Brady Tkachuk was then lost for the night after a first-period collision.

BOSTON -- When the puck drops on the championship game of the 4 Nations Face-Off, the United States will have its full complement of forwards, with Auston Matthews, Matthew Tkachuk and Brady Tkachuk all expected to play against Canada at TD Garden on Thursday (8 p.m. ET; ESPN+, ESPN, Disney+, SN, TVAS).

Tkachuk was injured last week in the preliminary round matchup between these teams and did not play in the round-robin final against Sweden on Monday. The U.S. did not give an update on Tkachuk’s status beyond coach Mike Sullivan saying it was a lower-body injury.
