President Trump announced that his administration will not fund California's high-speed rail project, citing significant cost overruns. The project, originally estimated at $33 billion, now faces a $100 billion increase.

A spokesperson for the California governor said Trump's rhetoric over the project could give a generational advantage to China.

Citing cost overruns, the federal government will no longer provide funding for California’s planned Los Angeles-to-San Francisco high-speed rail project, according to a news report from Reuters. President Donald Trump made the comment to reporters yesterday during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
