The Constitution bars federal officials from accepting gifts from foreign states without the consent of Congress.

During a press briefing in the White House on Monday, before embarking on a four-day trip to the Middle East, Trump called the donation a "very nice gesture."

"You should be embarrassed asking that question," Trump told a reporter who asked him about the optics surrounding his acceptance of the jet.
