NEW DELHI (AP) — India has only “paused” its military action and will “retaliate on its own terms” if there is any future terror attack on the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Monday in his first public comments since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire over the weekend.

India and Pakistan have delayed until Monday evening talks between their military operations chiefs to discuss the next steps after a ceasefire, the Indian army said, as New Delhi reopened airports and shares rose in the nuclear-armed rivals.

The discussion focused on upholding the commitment to cease hostilities, refraining from firing or initiating aggressive actions against each other. Both sides agreed to explore immediate measures to reduce troop presence along the borders and forward areas.
