After walking two batters to start the third, Senga escaped by getting Pavin Smith to hit into an inning-ending double play. Senga also benefited from Torrens throwing out Corbin Carroll attempting to steal second base in the first inning. Soto homered in the sixth for the game’s first run.

Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Burnes says he remains on target to return to the rotation on Saturday, May 10, against the Dodgers, calling the decision to skip his most recent start the right long-term move in hopes of staying healthy for the rest of the season.

The New York Mets won a close game against the Diamondbacks on May 5 at Chase Field, 5-4. Arizona scored just one run through seven innings.
