As of Friday morning, the Ellicott Fire Department said the Meridian Fire was an estimated 2,515 acres and 80% contained.In that Friday morning update, officials also said that the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

By 9:30 p.m., all evacuation notices were lifted in the area. The fire, which sparked at about 1 p.m., was 70% contained as of 9 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.
