There will be no MTV Movie & TV Awards for the second consecutive year, Deadline has confirmed. MTV put a pause on the awards show last year, with the expectation it would return this year in a reimagined format.

MTV is skipping its annual Movie & TV Awards for a second consecutive year and it’s unclear if the show will ever return at all.

The latest pause comes as Paramount Global — which owns CBS, Paramount Pictures and cable networks such as Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and MTV — undergoes significant restructuring ahead of its anticipated merger with David Ellison’s Skydance Media, a deal expected to close in the first half of this year, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Put those “Golden Popcorn” statues back in storage. The MTV Movie & TV Awards have been put “on pause” again this year. Sources close to production tell TMZ … the annual event is not returning this year and remains “on pause.
