Prosecutors are retrying the case after her original ended in a mistrial because jurors couldn’t reach an agreement.

Judge Beverly J. Cannone issued a brief ruling in Norfolk Superior Court that said she’ll permit meteorologist Robert Gilman to testify “as to weather conditions” in the predawn hours of Jan. 29, 2022.

Karen Read’s federal appeal was denied and her state retrial can proceed with all three charges, including murder, intact.

In her only interview, Victoria George told VF, “I waited for nearly a year after the mistrial, hoping the court system would work as intended to remedy some of the wrongs in this case.”
