The ice peaked on February 21 for Lakes Superior, Michigan and Huron. Lake Superior peaked at 46 percent covered with ice on February 21. The long-term average peak ice on Superior is 50 percent.

Michigan's lower Great Lakes are past peak ice coverage, which typically coincides with the end of February, NOAA said. The upper Great Lakes, are at peak ice coverage, which ends in early March.
