FORT WORTH, Texas — PJ Haggerty – in his first game since being named AAC Player of the Year – had the best game of his career, dropping a career-high 42 points to carry Memphis basketball to a 83-80 win over Wichita State on Friday.

Eighth-seeded Wichita State led 20-10 just five minutes into the AAC Tournament quarterfinal game, but a 9-0 run in two minutes pulled Memphis within striking distance and eventually to a 39-all tie at halftime. It was a 12-0 run early in the second half that put Memphis ahead 56-45, and for good.
