Saturday's UFC 318 card will be a tear-jerker for Dustin Poirier fans.

McGregor has not competed in the UFC since losing back-to-back bouts to Dustin Poirer in 2021, with an anticipated return against Michael Chandler last year falling apart at short notice due to injury.

Poirier bounced back in a big way, emerging victorious from a brutal and bloody war with Pettis that had many touting it as the Fight of the Year. The finish came somewhat anticlimactically in round three, however, when Pettis appeared to tap out with Poirier on top of him out of nowhere.
