TSA will allow passengers to keep their shoes on when they go through the general security line at many major airports across the country.

The walk back of the nearly two-decade-old rule is partly due to advancements made by TSA, in addition to an organizational reassessment of threat-level risks.

Passengers who are members of the TSA's PreCheck program are already able to bypass the nuisance and get expedited screening.
