A tornado warning for parts of South Jersey expired as heavy storms moved through the Delaware Valley, leading to severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings for the entire CBS News Philadelphia viewing area.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul and her acting counterpart in New Jersey said they were declaring states of emergency for areas facing the threat of extreme flash floods forecast on Thursday for much of the Eastern Seaboard.

Multiple rounds of heavy rain will pummel at least seven states in the Northeast throughout the end of this week.
