Libya's security authorities recovered at least 28 bodies of migrants from a mass grave in the desert in southeast Libya, the country's attorney general said on its Facebook page on Sunday.

According to the attorney general's office, the raid was executed late Saturday, targeting a gang that had been depriving migrants of their freedom and subjecting them to cruel treatment.

The Libyan Attorney General’s Office discovered the grave north of the city of Kufra, where dozens of migrants had been detained, according to a statement issued Sunday. Security forces freed 76 migrants from the facility.
