Though the Google Play Store may have lost a significant number of apps since last year, Appfigures’ data shows Apple’s App Store making a small jump from 1.6 million to 1.64 million apps.

Since the beginning of 2024, the Google Play Store has seen a big drop in the number of apps available to Android users. According to research by Appfigures via Phone Arena, the global app count fell from about 3.

In numbers, that means the Play Store has gone from around 3.4 million apps down to 1.8 million. That’s a 47% drop since the beginning of 2024, according to Appfigures.
