Denmark is in “crisis mode” after Donald Trump made a direct play for Greenland in a “horrendous” phone call with the country’s prime minister.

Trump has shown interest in making Greenland part of the US and has not dismissed the use of military or economic power.

Donald Trump insisted he was serious in his determination to take over Greenland in a fiery telephone call with Denmark’s prime minister, according to senior European officials.

President Trump wants Greenland, and he's reportedly making that very clear to its current ownership. The Hill reports that Trump had a "fiery" 45-minute phone call with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Jan.

Trump spoke to the Danish Prime Minister for 45 minutes last week, the report said, citing five senior European officials. Trump was aggressive and confrontational following Frederiksen's comments that the island was not for sale,
