LAFC will get one more chance to earn a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup that will be played in the U.S. this summer.Mexican soccer club León lost its legal challenge against FIFA on Tuesday, clearing the way for FIFA to host a play-in game between LAFC and Mexican team América for the last spot in the bracket.

These teams were determined due to LAFC being the runner-up to Leon in the 2023 Concacaf Champions Cup and Club America being the top-ranked team in the FIFA Club World Cup confederation rankings. This playoff creates quite the opportunity for these teams as each Concacaf club participating in the tournament will receive $9.

With the Liga MX side violating multi-ownership rules, the Black & Gold will host Club América on May 31 to be a replacement in the 32-team tournament
