You should be able to, but as mentioned previously, you do not need a pass to view the battlefield and monuments. You also do not need one to go into the visitors' center. The web site says if you wish to watch the film, there is a fee for that. Anyone 62 or over should get the Lifetime senior pass. It is good forever and gets you into so many places. At Yellowstone in 2019, for example, we got into the short, "pass" lane and went right in after showing it. The Lifetime Pass costs $80.00. You only need one. It covers everyone in your car.

There are a few places that are not accessible but for the most part you can walk the battlefields. Because there are many people touring the battlefields there are not many quiet places to sit and enjoy the views but you are not required to stick to certain paths or trails. We enjoyed taking the bus tour and then deciding which places to go back and revisit.
