Superb view at the top, overlooking wineglass bay, hazard lagoon and hazard beach. Did the hike as a 35 year old Asian male, with a 32 year old Asian female. We are moderately fit, but not technica…Full review by Xunliang L

The other reviews are correct, this is not an easy climb. I don’t know when a walk stops being a walk and becomes rock climbing but this must go close in a couple of spots. As others have said: be s…Full review by John C

I nearly bailed on this hike after hearing about how challenging it was and if it had rained “don’t attempt” due to how slippery it would be…. Well it had rained so we had to wait an extra day to do …Full review by Berli001
-Are there any tours that go to the summit of Mt Amos? -Would it be better to wear rock climbing shoes or bushwalking boots? -How much water should I take? -Will I need a jacket at the top?

Hi, is it possible to carry a 1’year old baby in the carrier and go climb up?

No. That would be irresponsible. Recommend the wine glass bay walk instead from the same starting point. Still a bit of a climb and a nice panorama of wine glass bay from the lookout. But a much better path and easily doable with your one year old.
Hi Craig, your review sounds helpful. I too have done the Grouse Grind a few years back now. We are planning a trip over the Easter long weekend. How long would you say the hike is to that lookout? A mate was saying it only took about 40mins, is that about right? I the climb to the lookout fairly hard? I know the climb down to the beach I've heard is challenging. Thanks for your help. Kind regards, Michelle

Hallo The path up to the lookout over wineglass bay is broad and easy going. The track starts from the main carpark. It takes about 25 to 30 mins for a reasonable fit person. So it you calculate 40 min it will be quite comfortable and allows you to stop and take pictures. The track down from the pass where the lookout is nearby is much steeper and rockier. For the walk up to the lookout sneakers are fine. For the climb down I would suggest good shoes which a good soles. But the climb down is really worth it. The sand is fine and almost white. The rocks along the shore line are covered with a red lichen. If you want to climb Mount Amos it is quite different. This track starts as well from the main carpark.First I recommend to be well equipped with strong boots and long pants. This is necessary since most of the track is leading over rocks. The boots protect your feet and ankle and give you a good stand. The long pants protect you from any abrasions. I recommend you to go only in dry conditions. If the rocks are wet they become slippery. You can spot the slippery areas quite good, since the rock there is much brighter in a brown color. Don't take walking sticks with you since in the steeper areas below the summit you need both hands for the scrambling and therefore it is important that you are not afraid of the height. The hole ascent took me and my wife about 75 min but we walk up quite fast, since we wanted to avoid the crowds and the heat of the day. The view from the top is just amazing. We had a perfect picnic up there under an endless and deep blue sky. So I am sure, if you are fit and ready for a challenge, it will be a experience. I hope you can enjoy it and get for both walk perfect weather and can enjoy Freycient as we did it!!!!!!! Best wishes Lemongrass
